Collins Dress and Top Fitting

Below are a some common fit adjustments for the Collins Dress and Top and how to do them. 

Lengthening/Shortening

You can lengthen or shorten the Collins anywhere along the length of the garment depending on where you want to add/remove length. If you are wanting to make the dress longer we recommend using the hem line for the mini dress as a slash point. If you want to shorten the shirt or dress we recommend measuring up from the hem. 

Lengthening the dress:

  • Slash horizontally across the skirt of the dress.
  • Spread your pattern pieces apart the desired amount.
  • Tape a piece of paper behind your pattern piece.
  • Redraw and smooth out the pattern lines.
